North Wales mountaineering
The Mountains of Snowdonia are a paradise for climbers, hill walkers and mountaineers, that’s why we chose to base our mountaineering courses here. The skills we cover here will give you the skills and confidence to tackle mountains all around the world.
This exciting course can be 2, 3 or 5 days long and involves big days out in the mountains. As always with a Granite Trails course, it is tailored to your needs and your experience. Topics we can cover are- multi pitch climbing techniques, mountain scrambling, equipment, moving together on steep ground, rescue and emergency strategies, route choice, weather and navigation.
Expect an action packed course, taking on some of Britain’s most classic mountain climbs and scrambles. A good level of fitness is helpful, as is some experience of rock climbing and hill walking.
Scottish winter mountaineering
Learn to tackle the mountains in snow and ice conditions. The Cairngorm Mountains are well known for their classic mountain climbs and there (at times) ferocious weather. If you can climb here, you can climb anywhere!
This adventurous course is 3 or 5 days long and will cover as many of the skills as possible for mountaineering in snow and ice conditions. As always the course is tailored to your abilities and ambitions, but some of the skills we can cover are- Safe winter travel techniques, Avalanche Awareness, climbing/scrambling with ice axes and crampons, snow and ice anchors and belays, emergency strategies and rescue, winter navigation and if you’re up for it- steep ice and mixed climbing!
